The heart of the Father

“And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Mark 1:11

Before Jesus was tempted by the devil and before he started preaching the good news he received these words from his father “you’re my son, whom I love; with you am well pleased.”

This is very important for all of us to be reminded that before we go on a mission we have to get back to the heart of the father for us. God’s heart for us says that we are loved and cherished by the father. When you are about to go on doing something that God has placed before you to do, it is possible that you can be consumed or overwhelmed by the mission. It is in the overwhelming of the mission that you need to remember the heart of the father for you, which is always for you and not against you.

When you are on a mission you can be discouraged when things are taking longer than you anticipated, you can lose hope when things are not going according to plan. When you are on a mission you can have you heart broken or disappointed or you can lose something that you value or cherish. It is possible to be tempted even when you are on a mission you really believe that it comes from God. But when you understand God’s heart for you, you’ll know that before the heartbreak, disappointment, loss, temptation, frustration he says to you “you’re my son/daughter, whom I love; with you am well pleased.”

He loves you and he finds delight in you not because you’re good but because Jesus who is good is for you and not against you. When God looks at us, he sees us through the lens of Jesus, with whom he loves and with whom he is well pleased.

Jesus Christ is our reminder that what God sets before us to do, he prepares us by reminding us of how he views us. He does this so that we will not lose sight of the important things in our lives that display God’s love for us. He does things so that we don’t focus on what is going wrong and letting what is going on blind us from seeing and experiencing his love for us.

Take a moment today by meditating on the heart of the father for you. Consider replacing your anxieties, fears, disappointments, loses, heartbreaks with the knowledge of God’s love for you and the desire to experience that love deeply.

Stay blessed.
